A head start on high school
Students at CCS Leland, CCS Southport and CCS Whiteville can earn up to five high-school credits before ninth grade.
The five courses
English I, Math I, Earth and Environmental Science, Latin I and Latin II are taught in middle school at the three K–8 campuses. Placement and completion requirements apply; ask your campus how placement works for your child.
Why it matters
Credits earned before ninth grade can free room in a high-school schedule for advanced courses. On the 2025 CLT8, a national test of high-school readiness, CCS Leland ranked #1 and CCS Whiteville ranked #3.
