The Roger Bacon Academy
Who manages the schools, and how that works.
Governance and management
Classical Charter Schools of America, Inc. holds the four charters and is governed by its volunteer Board of Trustees. The board contracts day-to-day management and operations to The Roger Bacon Academy, which is compensated under a management agreement approved by the board, the North Carolina State Board of Education and the IRS.
The Roger Bacon Academy develops the curriculum, trains and coaches teachers in the Three Laws and Direct Instruction, and runs school operations.
Founder Baker A. Mitchell Jr. describes joy as foundational to this culture: teachers recognize good conduct, effort, and progress through the first of the Three Laws. Read his opinion, “U.S. public education needs more joy, not more money.”
